Manifesting My Dream Home

Manifesting my dream home

At the end of 2016, my man and I sat down for our annual visioning session. (Me with a mega-watt smile, him more reluctantly. Hehe.)

What it involves: We write, create, and share our individual visions for the year + beyond – as well as co-create our shared/couple’s vision together. (Game changing – highly recommend regular visioning sessions with your partner.)

During this process on that fine December afternoon, the energy of our dream home emerged beautifully.

Naturally, organically, and oh-so distinctively.

Little did we know that, within 2 weeks, she would be ours.

Our gorgeous dream home with ocean views… (and of course, dogs allowed)!;)

A little story of how it all came to be…

I always loved being by the sea.

For some reason, the seaside always feels like home.

(Growing up in the concrete jungle of KL, I never really understood why. To be honest, I still don’t. I’ve learnt to just embrace it!)

My love for the ocean grew exponentially when I moved to Australia almost 10 years ago.

If you’ve seen Australian beaches, I think you would understand why!

They’re something out of this world:

The fine white sand.
The most delicious sun.
The most refreshing, crystal clear turquoise waters.

Living by the beach became a vision of mine.

Creating and living my vision is something that I have a huge thing for. It’s a bit of an obsession! :P  It’s something I coach my clients through every single day, and when vision turns to reality … it’s really magical!

There’s a good story behind every good manifestation – and I’ll share the story of exactly how we manifested our dream home in an upcoming post (keep an eye out)!

Today, I’m here to share the very simple formula we used to make our dreams a reality.

Fortune favours the clear-minded.

During our visioning sesh, we got super clear on what we wanted: brand new, with balcony, ocean views, pets allowed, lots of natural light, dedicated study room, lots of space, fits our price range etc. I even had marble bench tops in the list! (I thought it was a big of a fantasy – but guess what, marble bench tops was exactly what the Universe delivered too!)

Create a vision with soul (and stick to it).

While we had a few options show up in the interim they didn’t fit the vision (see step 1). We chose to stick to our list – and we ultimately got exactly what we desired! Oh, goals with soul are much more easeful! Ahhh.

Take action.

We drove to different beaches in Sydney, laid on the sands of Bondi/Manly/every beach you could think of to try on for size, lived like a local for the day… We scheduled viewings, reached out to different agents, and so on! Actions allows you to meet the Universe half way!

Follow through with trust.

When we found the apartment that ticked all our boxes, we followed through. We made the decision to say ‘yes!’ (quickly) and went through with it (even if there were all kinds of nerves and butterflies and OMG moments)! There’s a huge element of trust that we made the right decision!

Whatever your dream is… if you can dream it you can create a version of it in your life.

Hold your vision close to you, and know that if it’s a goal/dream/vision with soul – it is inevitable that you will receive it.

This year truly brings with it a bountiful energy of exciting, new possibilities. Along with it, a huge element of trusting.

Trusting in your power.
You are a powerful Creator.

Trusting in the speed at which Life is flowing right now.
You are exactly where you need to be right now.

Trusting in yourself.
You are making the right decisions.

Love,
Jia Ni x

Balancing Travel, Work & Adventure

Posted on: October 18, 2016 Category: Business & Entrepreneurship/ Lifestyle

One of the things I LOVE about running my own business is being able to travel with my work.

balancingtravelandworkasanentrepreneur

Going away doesn’t mean having to stop doing what I love – I get to continue immersing myself in growing my work and impact!

Travelling can also bring with it so many different gifts:

  • More inspiration, new and exciting creative ideas
  • More exposure, seeing and experiencing things from a different perspective
  • More enjoyment – of different sights, food, friends, and more!

Yet … As passionate entrepreneurs who are on a mission, it can also be easy to find ourselves couped up in the hotel room working throughout the day – or going out to have fun and then worrying about what isn’t being done.

I know neither of these have worked for me, and as someone who is always on the look out for ways to be able to ENJOY & LIVE without SACRIFICE – I’m sharing my top tips that have worked for me so that I am able to enjoy my work and feeling fulfilled each day without sacrificing unique experiences.

balancingtravelandwork

A big personal challenge for me in travelling has always been finding a way to balance work and travel.

When I’m in a new place, I desire to be able to experience the local highlights – to breathe in the air here, to feast on the food here, to appreciate the sights here.

Yet, having a never-ending to-do list and creative ideas that are waiting to be implemented (sound familiar? ;) … I can often feel overwhelmed and out of the present moment thinking of what I “should” and “could” be doing – instead of being fully in the moment and enjoying it fully.

I decided that this wasn’t really working for me, and my desire to experience greater balance and presence in my work AND life has seen me tweaking, experimenting, and customising over the last 4 years!

So, if you’re looking for a place to start – this is what has worked for me… ;)

Try it out and see what works for you, tweak it, have fun with it, experiment, and develop your own way of doing things.

Then, have fun creating your own custom formula (and this is what I do with each of my coaching clients in my programs)! ;)

TIP 1. Get clarity before the trip

Is this is a work & play trip, or a “switch off” trip with the purpose of relaxing and having time away from work? Before any trip away (or even while receiving guests at your home!), get clear on your intention. This will ensure that you are creating an enjoyable, guilt-free, memorable experience for yourself and others.

TIP 2. Planning & Research

Planning for work: Writing and scheduling blogs, mailers, reminders in advance; writing out a list of possible ideas in advance etc.

Planning for exploring: I always create a list of places I would love to visit, including how long it would take me to travel there, popular local spots while in the area, and even recommendations of what to eat/see/do specifically while there. I personally love using Tripadvisor in advance to map out the experiences I desire to have while I’m away – as well as recommendations from friends and family. (I am very much a planner and I get SO much joy and excitement out of it….)

* My man, on the other hand, loves having ‘no plans’ and feeling freedom and flexibility – so I always keep my list at hand while remaining open to the magic and those ‘last minute’ decisions and desires! ;)

TIP 3. Creating and finding pockets of time

I posted this as a mini tip on Instagram recently, and someone commented on how fantastic it was to deliberate use these times where most people waste (intentionally or unintentionally)! I typically arrange for housekeeping to come during my lunch break – so I get a longer lunch break – which then allows me to go explore more, enjoy hour-long lunches, and stay in the space of not feeling rushed. Sometimes I even choose to take my laptop out with me and work in the cafe after lunch!

* This tip requires some arrangement and organization beforehand (see tip 7) and I tend to batch my meetings and coaching sessions into AM and then evening PM ones so I have the afternoon with no specific location to be!

TIP 4. Focus time

For me, focus time = airplane mode on, distractions put away, door closed, just me and my tasks at hand. I often start my focus time with a brain dump too, as thoughts can distract us too! While I’m away, I love having my focus time split between beautiful cafes, libraries, and my hotel room. Focus time can include getting feedback back to clients, writing content, working on my own study/training .

* Since I am ALWAYS in my room while on coaching sessions via Skype, I find myself drawn to change my environment and love cafes and libraries for this!

TIP 5. Switch on when you’re on – and off when you’re off

Simply: When working, work. And when you’re switched off, switch off. (For me switch off time often looks like no social media or emails while I am with friends/family or out for dinner with my man – just completely in the present moment.)

TIP 6. Managing expectations and being REAL with yourself

How much time do you realistically have while you are away working AND travelling? Being away often means having less access to reliable internet, less time on the laptop, etc. I used to get quite stressed because I thought “I’m away in a beautiful and high vibe environment – I got to churn out as much work as I can to max it out”.

What changed? I realized it was a scarcity mentality (more about scarcity vs. abundance mentality here) to feel like I had to squeeze as much inspiration/creativity/high vibrations as I can out of my time away. No more.

I also got real about needing at least a week to turn around on my client’s feedback, and that it was better to postpone my webinar training till when I got back and had access to reliable internet – I let go of stress, anxiety, worry, and managed expectations in a better way – which released any set up for failure (self-sabotage).

TIP 7. Batching and outsourcing

This tip when combined to so many of the above can create so much balance for us! Some things to batch could include follow up emails, client emails and feedback, coaching and skype calls, content writing and social media planning, mindset work, getting groceries/shopping while already outside etc. Outsourcing as much as you can is also so imperative when away!

Let me know how these tips work for you!

Over to you: Do YOU have your own ideas and tips that you use while you are away working + travelling?

Share them below – I’d love to hear from you!

A Unique Take on Watches

Posted on: September 5, 2016 Category: Lifestyle

I always donned a wrist watch.

(So much so that I had a permanent watch tan since I was 7! Which … was still better than the time I had a semi-permanent swimming goggle tan from taking swimming lessons during my 3-month school holiday. True story. ;-)

When I got to university, the iPhone gradually took over the function of telling the time for many years – and up until a few months ago I started feeling the urge to wear a watch again.

Something about the idea of wearing a beautiful timepiece feels extremely romantic.

A classic piece of accessory that can add that little something to what we wear.

Two months ago, I was introduced to JORD, a company that makes unique watches in St. Louis. This FRANKIE piece is my favourite piece from their collection of women’s watches – and they make a creative gift, too!

I love the minimalist design! I also had it tailored to my wrist, a tiny bit loose so that it’s more adjustable. Snug watches get my circulation and re-create aforementioned watch tan situation.

Most importantly, it’s really easy to pair with an everyday jeans/pants + blouse combo, and even with a silk dress!

I’ve been wearing it almost every single day since receiving it in its beautiful box!

Pangkor Laut Resort

Posted on: August 30, 2016 Category: Lifestyle

At the start of this month, we celebrated Steve’s birthday at Pangkor Laut Resort in Malaysia. Sunshine, a taste of luxury, and ocean swims were among the many things on the brief when I asked him what he desired to experience for his birthday this year – and PLR fitted the bill perfectly! ;-)

We stayed in one of the spa villas, which were located above the clear blue waters, tucked away from the busier parts of the resort.

Our balcony had unobstructed views out into the horizon, and I woke up at sunrise daily to watch the sun make its way past the mountains and rise up into the sky. We hung out on our balcony most of the time, laying in the sun and living in our swimwear.

Every night, we fell asleep to the sound of crashing waves, and all in all had a wonderful time just taking it all in… A total dream come true.

Upon arriving at our room Steve was delightfully surprised by the below… (Also not pictured: A rich, delicious chocolate cake at dinner that night!)

Oh, where do I begin? The impeccable service, the food, the spa, the resort grounds …

The spa:

Steve’s birthday surprise included a spa treatment (his first time to a spa – and now the bar is set really high!!) He he!

It was an experience I don’t think words could ever do justice of … Our treatments started with a series of four rituals that included bath houses and scrubs – and after a divine massage – we used one of the nap gazebos to reflect on our experience, immersed in gratitude.

The food:

Dinner at Uncle Lim’s (a home-cooking inspired eatery was our go-to – which did not fail to WOW us every single night! (Let’s just say: Steve walked away from his birthday trip heavier than when he arrived! ;)

The grounds:

I’ll let the pictures do the talking! <3

Being surrounded by the beauty, care, and intention that is evidently poured into this place really uplifts and nourishes the body, mind, and spirit! When not hanging out at our villa (we stayed in most of the time as we never felt like we wanted to leave!), we swam and body surfed in Emerald Bay, napped and read on the sun loungers, and even tried our hand at tennis one fine morning…

Hearts full.
Souls fully nourished.
Totally blissed out.

We left Pangkor Laut Resort so relaxed, all smiles (and mission accomplished on Steve feeling spoilt for his birthday :) … Thank you so much Pangkor Laut Resort for all the magical days – we can’t wait to be back!
