Why ‘Ease’ is a better goal than building ‘The Perfect Life’

Posted on: March 26, 2017 Category: Self Mastery

Today, let’s talk about why focusing on ease is actually a better goal than focusing on building the perfect life. And how focusing on EASE — actually takes you to creating your perfect and ideal life!

So many of us aspire to build ‘the perfect life’ (me included!) — and in doing so, we can, unfortunately, get so swept up with the idea of building THE PERFECT LIFE (that has WOW factor/that is aspirational)…

Whether that’s : The first class travel, staying in five-star hotels, travelling the world for holiday and work, working with the world’s best leaders, attending events and workshops in all corners of the world, a luxurious dream home, shopping at designer stores, an enviable wardrobe, a support team supporting you in life and business from cleaners, personal assistants, chefs, team members and so on.

The idea of ‘THE PERFECT LIFE’ can look a certain way — often it includes aspirational qualities like luxury, travel, freedom, support etc.

So often, our goals are those above elements that we believe will help us build ‘the perfect life’.
The perfect business, perfect lifestyle, perfect home, perfect vacation.

The perfect life can also be a trap.

We can get caught in a cycle that looks like this : We keep striving to create this version of the perfect life, and even the most self-aware of us can be so focused, ambitious, and caught up taking action — we forget to check if ‘the perfect life’ is ‘our perfect life’. We might even feel pressure on ourselves to create this perfect image of our lives…

Can you relate to that?

Why The Perfect Life is An Illusion

1. ‘The Perfect Life’ often stems from our cultural conditioning and/or background influences.

We have this image in our minds of what ‘the perfect life’ is, and we convince ourselves that SUCCESS = having that.

For me, I felt I couldn’t feel successful until I was able to fully support myself AND my parents, until I could retire my love, buy the house(s), have a certain amount in the bank, be fully booked and having a consistent stream of passive income etc. The slippery slope is when we don’t allow ourselves to FEEL our success because there’s always the ‘next thing’ — and we are always feeling the ‘not enoughness’.

When I stopped chasing the perfect life (and its related obligations/ideas/criteria), I was able to acknowledge my success (and celebrate my successes today) and create from this space of more value, service and giving.

Wha to do : Redefine what your perfect life looks like, and let yourself be LED by EASEFUL desires (vs. what you think you ‘should have’ to be a success)

2. Striving for The Perfect Life is futile, because perfection is always one step out of our grasp.

When we are so obsessed about creating the perfect version of something — we can start feeling like ‘perfection is always just one step away’. It’s one more chapter, it’s one more edit, it’s one more book/program/purchase/investment/goal away.

Ease is about enoughness, now.

Ease is about knowing you don’t NEED anything extra to feel like you have your perfect life — it’s about learning to live your perfect life now! It’s about not NEEDING more, more and more — however, when you truly DESIRE more, you can choose to have it too! And from a space of knowing you are always choosing more from a space of worthiness, intuition and self-guidance.

What to do : Know that you can start living your perfect life now, instead of feeling you’re on the hamster wheel.

3. First class is different for everyone (We all value different things and that’s OK!)

After studying with my 7-figure (and multi-7 figure) coaches and mentors, I’ve really learnt that first class is SO different for everyone. You could live a first class life without any flashy cars, homes, purchases, vacations! You could live a first class live with ALL of the above.

When I conduct my discovery calls, a lot of clients come to me and share that they desire to run a 6 figure business, travel the world, flying first/business class, financially support their dreams and desires, get fully booked, sell high end packages. It’s almost like we were told that we need those things to feel successful and have a first class business & life.

The invitation here is to define what first class MEANS for you … And then giving yourself permission to go build that.

What to do : Ask yourself, ‘What do you truly value? What kind of business and life do you truly desire? HOW do you desire to create it (the journey matters too)?’ START from that space!

Perfection = A future destination.

Ease = NOW.

Recognize that what you have now IS enough, and you are indeed creating your own version of your perfect life now.

Ease as a goal doesn’t mean everything is easy peasy.
Ease means expansion, it means you are coming from a space of heart + soul.
Ease means you’re still committed to stretching — and that’s uncomfortable.

An easeful stretch, though, sounds more like ‘I know I am meant for this now and this is what is required of me. So here we go!’

On the other hand, a stretch based in fear and ‘should’ looks more like “I need to do this now or else (fear of missing out, fear of not living up to my potential now, fear of not creating the best and losing out).’

Why I’m Talking about This : The Time I was Building The Perfect Life

I remember a time where I was so focused on building ‘the perfect life’ — I travelled internationally for 3 months out of the year, travelled business class, moved into my dream apartment in the heart of the city, hired a cleaner every week, and flew half way around the world to work with the industry’s leading coaches 6 times in the span of 12 months. Oh, I also was graduating from my nutrition degree, completing a coaching certification, and running my business full-time.

I truly believed that I needed to create the perfect life for me at the time. And I was in the process of it…

However, it was also a constant, never-ending motion of ‘the next piece, and the next upgrade, and the next investment’.

It never felt enough — there was always something more I had to be, do, and/or have. It was tiring after awhile. And I started to feel less and less excited about ‘the perfect life’. (And confused too, because why wasn’t I excited about building my DREAM life?)

It really felt like I had climbed up to the top of the ladder — thinking along the way that when I reached the top I would finally feel happy, worthy, and that I could enjoy my success.

Yet — when I was ‘there’, I felt none of those things, and I started to wonder if I was on the right ladder or if there was something wrong with the goals I had set out to achieve.

Don’t get me wrong — it was all super exciting — but it was also unsustainable. I burnt out within 1.5 years of being fixated on ‘the perfect life’ and had to take some time to really focus on what I TRULY desired to create in my life.

I spent almost a year shifting into EASE, and now everything runs so much more smoothly, more intuitively, more authentically, more joyfully!

Trust me, it’s so worth it to start asking yourself how can your goals and processes be more EASEFUL… :-)

Many entrepreneurs stay stuck because they get paralysed when it comes to making decisions, and the 'No stay' always feels safer than 'Yes leap'.

There IS a way to get past this paralysis... First, we must understand that paralysis happens when we choose to focus on what making a decision/investment is going to cost us (what we are losing out on by making the decision)...

A Self-Reflective Prompt to Help You Make Powerful Decisions

Personally, every single time I make a DECISION around investing - I take myself through the following process. It looks like this :

"What do I have to gain from making this investment/leap?"
What do you have to gain when you join Easeful?

The Masculine vs. Feminine Way of Practicing Wealth Consciousness

The Masculine vs. Feminine Way of Practicing Wealth Consciousness

As a business owner, learning how to develop your wealth consciousness can be the most empowering and game-changing thing you do for your business.

When we are connected to our wealth consciousness, we aren’t easily swayed by the external results and circumstances.

When challenges and problems arise, we approach them with a solution-oriented and resourceful mindset.

We know that those experiences and things we desire — they’re already ours.

Our current reality is ‘old news’ — because we are paving the way for the very next moments to bring us exactly what we desire.

In essence, being wealth conscious is being fully awake and engaged with the creation of your life in this present moment.

Creation mode: On.

On the other hand: When we aren’t tapped into our wealth consciousness, we easily feel discouraged, overwhelmed, frustrated with the lack of external results.

It’s almost like we are short-sighted, or suddenly blinded by what is currently in front of us.

If our current reality is amazing – we feel amazing.

If our current reality isn’t showing us what we desire – we feel down and crappy.

We might even feel like a failure, or project the worst case scenario, or let our negative self-talk tell us nothing is working and quitting seems like a good option!

We ‘forget’ that WE get to change this reality – that 100% of what happens next is in our power.

We are in constant reaction mode to what happens around us!

In essence, our wealth consciousness practice is our practice that keeps us connected with our deep knowing that we create our own reality.

That this is a kind Universe – and everything that happens is always for us. (Not to us!)

That anything is possible when we put our focused intention and action to it.

So – which way do you desire to live in your business and life? ;)

Now, let’s talk more about how to cultivate and deepen and practice wealth consciousness!

Your wealth consciousness practice might include things like:

  • Read Think & Grow Rich/Science of Getting Rich/(insert reading material here) 30 minutes once or twice a day
  • Do your affirmations every morning
  • Keep your energy clean through clean-eating, coaching sessions, healing, physical activity etc.
  • Journalling
  • Meditation

Where I see entrepreneurs tripping up — or finding this whole practice simply unsustainable — is the way they are ‘doing’ wealth consciousness.

When we approach our wealth consciousness practice from a masculine place, we come from a ‘gotta get sh*t done’ mode.

We sit ourselves down for 60 minutes in the morning, already feeling like we just have to get this practice out of the way so that we can step into our business.

We push ourselves to do as much as we can — because, the more we can fit in the better!

We might even beat ourselves up a little if the practice on a particular day feels less groundbreaking than the other…

We do it because … our coach or mentor said so/we know it opens us up to prosperity/we feel like we need a top up in the wealth consciousness area.

Day after day, it becomes a mechanical process, and before we know it — we start to feel resistant towards our practice.

We have wealth consciousness practice fatigue!

We then stop the practice (or ‘take a break’ because our body just isn’t up for sustaining it), and then we experience a dip in our wealth consciousness – which might look like emotional roller-coasters or panic and fear when it comes to our money and business goals.

It is not what we do, but HOW we do – that changes everything.

As female entrepreneurs who are committed to wealth consciousness being a sustainable, enjoyable and pleasurable practice (that we look forward to)…

Let’s approach it in a more embodied, feminine way.

Approaching wealth consciousness as a spiritual practice — one that stems from deep self-love, one that feels nurturing and nourishing to us.

Practicing wealth consciousness with flexibility and space — not a rigid thing we do or have to get done or even having an attachment to how should feel/look.

We practice wealth consciousness because we know it is who you are.

There’s no dread in there — simply a commitment to show up and practice.

As a result, our body and soul looks forward to this practice each day.

See how the second way is all about integration and sustainability?

The result of deep integration and sustainability is consistency.

Consistently practicing in a way that works for you.

Consistently seeing results in your business.

Consistently feeling empowered in every moment.

How is your wealth consciousness ‘bank account’ balance?

One of the analogies I’ve learnt is wealth consciousness is like a bank account. The more we focus on growing it, the more we deposit in this account. We are in a positive balance – as we realise that we are empowered creators and life is amazing!

Where we can slip up is when we forget or feel to resistant to keep this practice up. We stop making regular deposits while the balance goes down as we continue to draw on it daily.

I love this analogy because sometimes when things are going great – we stop keeping up the practices and habits that actually got us here in the first place!!

This commonly happens when the way we are approaching those practices are from a masculine, pushing way vs. feminine, sustainable way.

In business, having a solid wealth consciousness foundation means you truly know that:

– When a prospect says ‘No’ or ‘Not yet’ – there’s a deep sense of peace and calm, as you know that there are many more prospects out there who are ready to say ‘Yes, I’m ready now!’

– You’re able to say No to non-ideal clients, because you know there is an over-abundance of ideal clients out there for you.

– You’re able to shift out of victim and self-judgement/criticism, because you know you’ve got so much support on your side. (The game is already rigged for you to win before you even started! ;)

– You’re able to raise your rates to reflect where you’re at easily and consistently.

– You’re able to start where you’re at without comparing — or getting stuck in analysis paralysis.

– You take inspired action daily no matter what is happening around you. So the better it gets, the better it gets.

– And so much more…

These are a preview to some of the principles that we cover in detail in my new course, Easeful.

Easeful is about changing the way we ‘do’ our business – whether that is business goals, sales calls, client enrolments, actions or habits.

It’s about truly running your business in a way that supports you … while drawing on everything I know that truly works after building a successful international coaching business, then burning out, then finding a new way that is sustainable to run a thriving business that is 100% authentic and aligned (and of course, one that I love).

We’ll be setting and achieving goals, getting things done, up-levelling and living your vision — all in an easeful way so you don’t experience roller coasters, fatigue or burnout. Which actually allows you to always feel confident in your goals next month, the following, and so on!

Are your business goals driven by Ego or Desire?

Posted on: March 3, 2017 Category: Business & Entrepreneurship

Are your business goals driven by ego or desire?

Ever feel disconnected or unaligned with some of your business goals?

Have you considered whether your goals stem from a place of ego vs. Spirit and desire?

Everyone I’ve ever met in my coaching practice desires to do good work that positively influences the world.

However, unconsciously, sometimes our goals are driven by our ego.

Let’s dive into how to discern between ego-driven goals and desire-led goals!

Ego-driven goals usually …

  • Focused on the external without DEPTH
  • What you think you *should* be aiming for
  • The next ‘logical’ step for you and where you are in your business (even if you’re not genuinely excited or connected to it)
  • Blindly fuelled by what other people have created (and thinking therefore you should create it too)
  • Stemming from comparing energy
  • Involves disempowerment – placing your power outside yourself
  • Focused on the outcome to give you a sense of pride, accomplishment, worth, companionship or something else
  • Changes constantly through time, trends, seasons, and other outside circumstances.
  • Involves a lot of pushing energy that may lead to fatigue and burn out

The similarity in ego-driven goals is that we place our power outside of ourselves – whether in a false identity or expectation we’ve created in our minds or giving our power away to others.

Desire-led goals are usually …

  • What you feel deeply you are meant for/meant to experience (even if it’s HUGE or ‘silly’)
  • Inspired and soul-driven
  • Feel easeful and the natural next step for you
  • Involving a lot more flow
  • Deeply personal and individual – your desire driven goals will look completely different to someone else’s desire driven goals!
  • Internally led – these goals tend to call out to LEAD us towards them (even if we may deny the calling for awhile it doesn’t go away! ;)
  • Persistent – these goals tend to stick and stay there even if we try to talk ourselves out of it, convince ourselves we don’t need it etc.
  • Not always about the form/what it looks like – and more about the experience of who you will be when you are able to create the goal

What can we do?

The most powerful thing you can do as a business owner is get back in your own power when it comes to your business goals and practicing discernment when it comes to your goal setting practice.

A Business Driven by Desire & Spirit-led Goals

When I first started out, I remember this HUGE desire to start coaching clients on a 1:1 basis (in a high end package and large container).

I shared it with my coach at the time – who shared it was better for me to focus on other projects like smaller courses and products – as high-end private clients tend to come after you’ve been in business or out in this online world for awhile!

I was also 19 then – and didn’t have much ‘life experience’ to coach on…

But that nagging desire was that and wouldn’t go away!

So I decided to do it my own way and opened up my calendar for 2 private coaching clients at $3,500 packages.

Within a week of declaring this desire to serve 2 clients …

I booked one beautiful client who I absolutely adored working with.
The next signed up to work with me within the next 30 days.
I was ecstatic that I finally was doing what I knew I was meant for – I absolutely loved what I had created in my business.

On the other hand, I also recall chasing those external things I thought I wanted.

I kept travelling even though I knew I desired to start nesting at home.
I over-invested in programs and courses even though I knew it was time to look for different (more aligned) mentor.
I said ‘Yes’ when I knew it was time for me to lovingly say ‘No’.

This led to burning out 2 years ago, finding myself in an externally successful business that didn’t feel aligned internally.

I questioned what I had created …

It took lots of deep dives, journalling sessions and inquiry – and today I’m so happy to share that this experience has taught me how to discern beautifully between goals that nourish me and those that don’t.

When we choose desire driven goals – it doesn’t mean life is a piece of cake and a walk in the park. There’s still challenges that we may face, however when we are led by Desire there is also a lot more ease and grace in our formula.

Let’s Set Business Goals that Deeply NOURISH You

I’m holding a FREE workshop on Money & Income Goal Setting and I’d love for you to join me.

We’ll be going through each of your goals and ensuring they truly align with what you truly desire – and you’ll walk away with the important skill of discernment.

We’ll also be setting goals together that are based in Spirit and Desire (vs. ego), so that your business goals feel authentic, inspired, and easeful!

I’ll also share a process on how you can let go of those ego-driven goals (that aren’t grounded in reality, gets you stuck in spinning and so on) so that you can step back into 100% of your own power when it comes to you and your business!

When we are in this space we easily create and experience our goals – whether it’s related to our offerings, clients, sales, income or the decisions we choose to make with our time, money and other resources.

You’ll walk away knowing exactly how to set goals that you love, create a business that aligns with you, and make future decisions from a place of ease and power. :-)

See you there!

Much love,
